California Loan & Jewelry
Serving Sacramento Since 1909
Warren Anapolsky began working for California Loan & Jewelry in 1973 after graduating from the University of Arizona, joining his parents, Sol and Bernice, and his brother, Larry. Warren became a graduate gemologist in 1975. Warren and Larry became third-generation owners of California Loan & Jewelry in 1979, after their father passed away. Under their leadership, Warren and Larry turned the small mom-and-pop operation into the thriving business it is today.
Warren and Larry worked together for over 40 years until November, 2013 when Larry passed away. The accomplishments they both achieved in business is what Warren is proudest of. The legacy of the business continues with Warren’s cousin, Adam, currently working in the business.
Adam Anapolsky began working at California Loan & Jewelry at the age of 14 when he would work on Saturdays during the summer. He realized at that young age that he wanted to work for his cousins as his chosen career in life.
After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2008, he attended the Gemological Institute of America where he became a graduate gemologist in 2009. He is proud to be a fourth-generation Anapolsky to work at California Loan & Jewelry. In his spare time, Adam loves to play golf and follows his favorite sports teams.
Elsa Palazuelos started working at California Loan & Jewelry in 2011. It was evident right away that she possessed the needed qualities to be a success in our business. She took direction, was friendly and interested in our customers, and wanted to make California Loan & Jewelry the best pawn shop.
Elsa is bilingual and makes all our Spanish speaking customers feel welcome whether they’re taking out a loan or a making a purchase.
In Memorium: Lawrence G. Anapolsky
As many of you know, Larry Anapolsky, my brother and co-owner of California Loan & Jewelry, passed away November 17, 2013, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. On behalf of myself, Larry’s wife Kathy, daughters Michelle and Shawna, sister Ellyce and our entire staff, I want to thank everyone for your prayers and expressions of concern and sadness.
California Loan & Jewelry will never be the same without Larry but we will continue to make customers our top priority. Larry’s greatest contribution to the business may have been his ability to keep us one step ahead of the competition. However, just as important was the way Larry treated customers.
Larry cared personally for our customers and it gave him great joy to help make a difference in their lives. Today, we adhere to the same business philosophy on which the store was founded in 1909: Treat people fairly, honestly and have the highest integrity possible. That philosophy continues to keep loyal customers coming back generation after generation.
Larry was a leader in our industry and many of his innovations can be credited for growing our business. For example, we were among the first in our industry to use computers to write and redeem loans. He was also the driving force behind our expansion—first into the check cashing business in 1999, then opening Car Equity Loans, a car title loan business, in 2005.
A native Sacramentan, Larry was born on August 8, 1950, to Sol and Bernice Anapolsky, the youngest of three children. He graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School and became very civic-minded, including membership in the 20-30 Club and Rotary.
